If not, you really ought to. The Simpsons got Banksy to do an extended version of their opening sequence for Sunday’s episode. That decision is getting controversial with some of the American animators of the show threatening to walk out if the opening aired, but the sequence stood.
This is incredible considering how dark it is, something a big corporate juggernaut like Fox would want to avoid this type of message at all costs. Good on the staff at Simpsons HQ for pushing the envelope. This is the sort of stuff that made me idolize the show as a teen.
I know that most animation shows outsource to Korea, and I’ve heard of poor working conditions, as well as poor pay; but all in the name of a quick turnaround to make air. I think the only guys doing all the work and meeting weekly deadlines is South Park. More on that soon.
