Starting off right -
I’m slowly realizing that there’s just one thing we gotta do, as filmmakers, dreamers, and dream chasers. We gotta do what we want… tell the stories we want, travel to the places we want to go, paint the pictures we want to paint, cook the food we want to eat, get the job we want to get.
I’m not on some hippie-the secret-weed headed rant, I’m dead serious, all that’s stopping you from doing anything you want to do is yourself. Be creative, problem solve around whatever hurdles might be in your way, use those hurdles to your advantage and get on it. There’s a million reasons why you ‘can’t’ do what you want to be doing, and there’s one reason why you MUST do what you should be doing - You. This is about you being on the path to where you should be. I was thinking about it today and I realized that the only thing that can literally stop me from accomplishing everything I want, is death. Or some extreme coma. But even if I’m still alive, breathing, and I can at least communicate by winking, I’m gonna make everything I want happen… A little extreme, I know, but I’ve realized that everything we want is here for the taking.
Above is the trailer for ‘A buried Life.’ I got to hang out with these guys a few months back when they were in the thick of making the show (which was never intended to be a show) and they made it sound so simple. Four buddies, in their 20’s, saved up, bought and fixed a bus, made a list of things they wanted to do, hit the road, and did it. They brought a camera along and documented the whole thing.
I know, it sounds tough, or like these guys got lucky, and like a lot of work, but chasing dreams isn’t a cake walk either. It’s tough, it takes luck, and it takes a lot of work. But that’s why there’s blood running through your veins.
Get on it and send me a postcard from the road. I want to hear of how beautiful Barcelona is in the winter or how your script is almost done and you’re gonna start shooting in a few months.
Come on, we’re almost through January already…. No more wasting time. Let’s go out guns blazing until we’re in our death beds.
