Ramblings of a former TV producer

RIP Margaret Moth.

Her images were always so intense. The best way to describe what Margaret Moth footage is like to one who’s never experienced it, is to read ‘from Beirut To Jerusalem’ by Robert Friedman and then realize this kiwi gal probably filmed all the violence that takes place in that book, and got up close, intimate and personal with the folks delivering the chaos of war in the middle east.

In Sarajevo a sniper put a bullet in her head, ripping her jaw off, and changing her life forever. But six months later, after being near fatally wounded, she returned to the field; Sarajevo to be exact.

The anger, fear, and desperation expressed by the men and women caught by her lens in the middle of war sends shivers down your spine because what you feel, and what you imagine these people are going through, its something you hope you never in your life have to experience.

Her images created the emotions one needs to feel to understand that war should never be, specially when there are innocent people caught in the middle. No need for an accompanying article or political debate. Her pictures spoke louder then the words of any politician, religious leader or terrorist.

Margaret, you’re beautiful, and so were your images. You will be sorely missed. Thank you for everything you did.

Your fan,

Dan Ramirez
